Little Apple Studio
Welcome to our Studio!
Situated 5 miles from Looe, in South East Cornwall, nestled in beautiful landscapes of rugged coastlines and the wild moors of Bodmin.

The Story
Nestled in the picturesque village of Duloe, Cornwall, Little Apple Studio is my creative sanctuary. Set within our garden, the studio began to take shape when we moved here in 2021 and was lovingly completed in 2023 with the installation of our Nabertherm kiln. This year, after retiring from a fulfilling career in teaching, I committed to my art full-time, embracing the intricate craft of sgraffito pottery.

Little Apple Studio is a place where creativity thrives daily. Sharing the space with my wife and fellow artist, Suzi, we immerse ourselves in Cornwall’s natural beauty and rich history, drawing inspiration from rugged coastlines, rolling hills, and quaint coastal villages. My process often begins with sketching—plants, animals, and landscapes that reflect the unique charm of Cornwall. These sketches evolve into the textured, detailed designs that define my work, capturing the essence of tidal tales and countryside serenity.

At the heart of my craft is sgraffito ceramics, a technique that brings my designs to life by carving intricate patterns into clay. This meticulous process reveals striking contrasts and creates a stunning interplay of light and shadow, resulting in pieces that are as evocative as they are enduring.

Since dedicating myself fully to my art, I’ve been fortunate to exhibit in local galleries and fulfill commissions reaching as far as America. Little Apple Studio has become more than just a workspace—it’s a haven of creativity, where Cornwall’s timeless beauty is transformed into lasting works of art.
